What is Private Medical Insurance?
Private Medical Insurance is an annual insurance policy that can cover you and your family and allows you to avoid any NHS waiting lists and pays for you to receive fast-track consultations, essential treatments including surgery, nursing and hospital care for short-term curable medical problems.
What is Home Insurance?
Home Insurance is an annual insurance policy to designed to protect your home and your possessions within the home. It can be broken down into two elements:

Buildings Insurance
This covers the cost of repairing damage to the structure of your property and includes Conservatories, Garages, Sheds and Fences and also covers the cost of replacing items such pipes, cables and drains.

Contents Insurance
This cover the cost or repairing or replacing your household personal possessions and furnishings such as Jewellery, Furniture, Electrical Goods, Clothing, Toys, Sports Equipment and Art.
Do you need to have home insurance?
It is a minimum requirement of every mortgage the building has adequate buildings insurance and you will be in breach of your mortgage contract if the building is not adequately insured.
If your property is a leasehold flat then the building is usually insured by the landlord who owns the building typically is not your responsibility.
Contents insurance is optional and your mortgage lender will not insist on it. If you do not have contents insurance you should give consideration to what you would do if your home was burgled or if there was a fire that caused internal damage to your belongings for example.
